PVC Dog Cot Slings for sale – both sold

I have 2 dog cot slings for the large dog cots with PVC pipe sides that measure 32″ and 26″. One sling is khaki and the other in nutmeg. Both are made of 100% duck cloth and washable.

I had someone contact me asking me to sew the slings for her – even nagged me over Memorial Day weekend about getting them done – and then refused to ever send payment. Sigh. Does this fall under “no good deed goes unpunished”? Due to this I am rescinding my offer to sew slings for people in the future.

Each sling is $35. $10 for fabric, $20 for labor (they each take 2-3 hours to measure, cut, iron, and sew), $5 dollars for shipping.

If you’re interested either leave a comment or send me a message from the contact page. They need a good home with a dog who will appreciate them 🙂

Update October 19, 2014

The nutmeg sling went to Crystal in Ontario, Canada who is starting a dog kennel and will be using one as a template to make a lot more. I am really tickled about this since I’ve always thought the dog cots would be perfect for kennels.

I have people emailing me about the remaining khaki sling so I suspect it will be gone soon. I will consider sewing more, but due to the time it takes and the increase in the cost of fabric I would charge $40 a set. I checked duck cloth at Joann yesterday and there are a lot of colors in stock so if you’re interested I will check if they have a color that will work with your dog and decor. So if you don’t own a sewing machine and would like to buy the standard size slings for large dogs send me an email through comments or from the contact page.

Update November 24, 2014 – the khaki sling sold also.

PVC Dog Cot Slings for sale – both sold — 24 Comments

  1. Hi DIYGirl. I am looking to make your cot but don’t have the ability to make the sling. Do you think it will support 90 lbs of weight? If so, is the khaki one still available?

    • Collette — thanks for your interest. Since both of my 75 pound dogs regularly got on the same cot together a 90 pound dog shouldn’t be any problem. Just make the legs at least 6″ (maybe even a little longer) so when the fabric sags from the weight the dog it will still be held up off the floor. I’m sending you an email so let me know if through comments if you don’t get it.

  2. If you make more I would love to purchase one to try it out. I have a kennel of Labradors. They are known to rip things up so I will see if they can get their teeth in the corners and rip! If you have the Cordura material I would like it in that material. The more durable the better for me.

    • Tiffany — I’m going to send you an email so we can start talking and figure out what we can do. From you email address I checked out your kennel and it looks awesome. The DIY Girl

  3. Please, please, please let me know if you’ll be making and selling any more slings. I have a 12 year old wheaten terrier that I know would love this comfortable bed.

  4. Great to be able to get the coy seen for me as it’s not my skill. I have a 90lb lab. A 50lb lab/Shepard mix and a papillon maybe 10 lbs. I figure the small ones could share one cot so if possible I would love to purchase two please

  5. Have you started making these to sell? I have two labs who love to sneak up on beds and couches, and I’m thinking this would help!

  6. I am interested in purchasing your large dog cot sling if you still have them available. Thanks

  7. I am interested in your large dog slings are you still selling them ??

    • I sew the fabric slings for some people and they purchase the corner fittings and PVC and build their own frame. I make the slings to order, so there aren’t any pre-made. Let me know if you would like slings.

  8. Hi! Thank you for this awesome tutorial. I read through the whole thing and then saw that you’re making and selling the slings for $40 and thought I should probably just purchase one or two, if possible. 🙂 Please let me know how I may get in touch with you to do so. THANK YOU 🙂

    • Hi Kate – I’m glad you liked the tutorial. Right now I am located somewhere with no fabric stores. It would require your purchasing fabric, sending it to me, and me sending it back when I have it sewn. Let me know if you’re up for the complicated process. The cost, by the way, is $42 or $44 if you use paypal.
